Defining Relative Clauses
Select the correct pronoun or decide if it can be deleted.
1. The Pronouns
- Who: Used strictly for people.
- Which: Used strictly for things/animals.
- That: The wildcard. Can be used for people OR things.
2. Deleting the Pronoun
Look at the word after the relative pronoun:
- If it is a VERB (e.g., is, runs), you CANNOT delete the pronoun (it's the Subject).
- If it is a NOUN/PRONOUN (e.g., I, you, John), you CAN delete it (it's the Object).
