Let's learn how to give instructions with imperatives.

🧐 What Are Imperatives?

We use imperatives to give commands, instructions, or to make requests. They are very easy!

Positive (+) Imperatives

These tell us what to do.

Structure: Verb + ...

  • Listen to the teacher.
  • Open your book.
  • Help your friends.

Negative (-) Imperatives

These tell us what not to do.

Structure: Don't + Verb + ...

  • Don't talk in class.
  • Don't run in the classroom.
  • Don't forget your homework.
