01 My First Week

My first week in America is over! It is very different from Thailand. My host family is very nice. They have a son, and his name is Mark. He is my age.
The food is interesting. For breakfast, we eat cereal with cold milk. In Thailand, I eat rice and soup for breakfast. It is strange, but I like it. School is also different. We can wear any clothes we want! In my school in Thailand, we wear a uniform. The students here are friendly. They ask me many questions about my country. I am happy to be here, but I also miss my family and my home. I hope I can make many new friends.

02 My First Class

This week, I had my first English class. It was a little difficult. The teacher speaks very fast. Many new words! I try to listen carefully. Some students helped me. A girl named Sarah sat next to me. She helped me understand what the teacher said. She is very kind. We talked a little after class. She likes Thai food! I told her about my favorite dish, Pad See Ew. Maybe I can cook it for her one day. I feel more comfortable at school now. Making a friend is good. I am still learning many things. American school is interesting.

03 The Football Game

This weekend, Mark took me to a football game. It was my first time. In America, football is very popular. The whole school was there! Everyone was shouting and cheering for our team. The players wear big helmets and pads. It looks very rough. I did not understand all the rules, but it was exciting. People ate hot dogs and drank soda. It was like a big party. Our team won the game, and everyone was so happy. I have never seen anything like it in Thailand. It was a lot of fun. I think I like American football now.

Day 4
A Day at School

"Today was a long day at school, but a good one. I am starting to understand more in my classes. In history, we are learning about the American Revolution. It is very interesting to learn about another country's past. My history teacher, Mr. Thompson, is very funny. He tells a lot of jokes. It makes the class more fun. I still have to use my dictionary sometimes for difficult words, but it is getting better. During lunch, I sat with Sarah and her friends. They are all very nice to me. They asked me to teach them some Thai words. I taught them how to say "hello" and "thank you." They tried to say them, and it was very funny to hear their accents. We all laughed together. After school, Sarah and I went to the library to do our homework. It is nice to have a friend to study with. In Thailand, I always studied with my friends. It feels a little bit like home. I am still a little homesick sometimes, especially at night, but making friends and learning new things makes it easier. I am excited for what I will learn tomorrow."

It was a little bit boring, but my knee felt better resting. I hope it is okay tomorrow. I don't like getting hurt. Mark felt bad that I fell, but it was not his fault. I am just clumsy sometimes.
